Simple Interest
Interest charged only on the original principal, with no compounding.
Simple interest is calculated solely on the principal, so it grows in a straight line. It's common on some short-term loans and certain bonds.
Unlike compound interest, simple interest never earns interest on prior interest, so over long periods it produces far smaller totals than compounding.
