Balance Transfer

Moving a debt from one credit card to another, often to a 0% promo rate.

A balance transfer shifts a credit-card balance to a new card, usually to take advantage of a 0% introductory APR and pause interest for a promotional period.

Transfers typically carry a one-time fee (often 3–5%), so the interest saved must exceed the fee for it to be worthwhile.
